Donate to SEEC during the holidays

Friends, the Arlington Community Foundation has invited several nonprofits to its website to obtain donations during the holidays. SEEC is the second nonprofit on the catalog. We are requesting donations to purchase hot meals from Latino restaurants to feed the day laborers during the winter months. To make a donation during the holiday season, please go to the Nonprofit Wish Catalog on the Arlington Community Foundation website to donate by clicking on this link.

Andres Tobar is the Recipient of the 2023 Spirit of Community Award

Andres Tobar was one of three extraordinary people presented with the 2023 William T. Newman Spirit of Community. Individually and collectively, these recipients represent the passion, commitment, and community advocacy that define the Award and the absolute best vision of what Arlington can be.

In addition to serving as Executive Director of Shirlington Education and Employment Center for nearly 20 years, his community leadership has included many years as president of the Kiwanis Club of South Arlington, board member for the Arlington Food Assistance Center, co-chair of the African-American/Hispanic Coalition, state director of the Virginia League of United Latin American Citizens (including two years as national Vice President), and as co-chair of the Immigrant Educational Rights Coalition.
